APEX Motor Club Brings the Radical Experience to Arizona

September 13, 2019 | RadicalSportsCars.com

Radical continues to expand its North American network with this week’s appointment of APEX Motor Club, Arizona’s premier motorsports club as its latest dealer and track opportunity.

Just six months after opening, APEX has placed an initial three-car order of Radical’s best-selling SR3 track and race car in order to support its intensive programme of over 275 track days per year. The 2.27-mile circuit is already in operation with an additional 2.25-mile Phase 2 planned for construction in 2020.

Located just 35 miles southwest of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, APEX is the only motorsports club located within a major metropolitan area. The circuit utilises the latest construction and safety technology including a full LED flag-lighting system.  APEX has something for everyone, from the circuit to an off-road area and karting track, as well as a clubhouse with amenities including a swimming pool, fitness centre, restaurant and more.

APEX members can even purchase a private, trackside garage for the ultimate in track access and convenience, part of a wider-reaching range of concierge-level service that extends to their APEX Driver Academy and private one-on-one coaching with industry experts and racing legends.

“APEX Motor Club is excited to bring the Radical race car to our members and facility, due to its ideal combination of capability and driver enjoyment.  The Radical SR3 is perfect for drivers of all backgrounds from gentleman racer to professional driver,” said Jason Plotke, President & Co-Founder of Apex Motor Club. “We feel this is an important product in racing DNA, so much so, that we have incorporated the Radical to be the first official class in our upcoming Member racing series this year.  We are looking forward to growing the partnership and showing our members just how proficient the Radical race car is on track.”

“In looking for partners to represent Radical in its ‘Race the World’ mission, APEX stands out as the ideal track facility to enjoy our product, with all of the driver training, support and social elements demanded by our customers,” added Joe Anwyll, Radical Sportscars’ CEO. “North America accounts for over half of our annual production so we know what a valuable addition Apex Motor Club’s unique layout, position and business offering will be to our drivers.”

Collectors and Speed Freaks Take Car Condos for a Spin

August 29, 2019 | Wall Street Journal

When some people dream of a second (or even third) home or property, they imagine views of a pristine lake or a peaceful golf course. Not Julie Hertzberg. When it was time for her to take the plunge, she wanted thundering V-8 engines and the smell of hot rubber on pavement.

Ms. Hertzberg, 46, a managing director in the Detroit office of the financial consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal, and her husband Robert Hertzberg, 65, a partner with the law firm Pepper Hamilton, bought a car condo. The 1,200-square-foot unit started out as an empty box, and the couple turned it into a two-floor space. On the bottom floor is a garage with a polished concrete floor. The couple’s 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (bought new for about $105,000) and 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R (about $65,000) are considered two of the most high-performance cars ever built at their price-points, while their 2010 Ferrari 458 (about $235,000 in 2010) is no slouch. When time permits, the couple can be found throttling these vehicles on the high-performance test track that sits right outside their condo. Otherwise, the cars make for gleaming sculpture pieces…Continue Reading >
