German Accent, Italian Flair: How Audi Taught Lamborghini Quality

April 3, 2020 |nytimes.com

Before Lamborghini was Lamborghini, before it made exotic cars with pulse-quickening engines and stratospheric price tags, and before it ever dreamed of building an S.U.V., its founder built much more down-to-earth vehicles: tractors.

And in between its origin story on the farm in Italy in the 1940s and ’50s and its surprising success with the well-heeled who still want room for groceries, it dueled with Ferrari and unleashed a string of hit sports carsContinue Reading >

Lexus Named Official Vehicle of New Motorsport Facility

January 10, 2020 |ClubLexus.com

Lexus partners with APEX Motor Club’s stunning new country club-style track facility in Maricopa, AZ.

When the Lexus brand was launched by Toyota back in 1989 its mission was to design and manufacture luxury cars that could compete with the best of the European automakers. Companies like BMW and Mercedes were squarely in Lexus’ cross hairs. Fast forward some 30 years and times have changed. While Lexus still produces incredible luxury cars it has also become synonymous with serious performance machines that are just at home tearing up a backroad as they are doing hot laps around a race track. That’s in large part thanks to the models like the LF-A supercar and F Sport line of vehicles. Lexus’ evolution into a maker of fast performance cars makes it all the more appropriate that the brand was recently named the Official Vehicle of APEX Motor ClubContinue Reading >

Meet Jason Plotke of APEX Motor Club in Maricopa City

December 3, 2019 | Voyage Phoenix

Apex Motor Club is a motorsports country club, similar to a golf country club, but for motorsports enthusiasts. We did not invent the concept, as they exist in markets such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, New York and Miami, but we located Apex the closer than any other club to a major metropolitan area, and in a market with over 300 days of sunshine and year-round use.

Phoenix is an automotive enthused market with 2 NASCAR races, Barrett-Jackson week, and some of the best car culture in the nation, but is underserved from a motorsports perspective creating an opportunity for a club of this kind…Continue Reading >

Collectors and Speed Freaks Take Car Condos for a Spin

August 29, 2019 | Wall Street Journal

When some people dream of a second (or even third) home or property, they imagine views of a pristine lake or a peaceful golf course. Not Julie Hertzberg. When it was time for her to take the plunge, she wanted thundering V-8 engines and the smell of hot rubber on pavement.

Ms. Hertzberg, 46, a managing director in the Detroit office of the financial consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal, and her husband Robert Hertzberg, 65, a partner with the law firm Pepper Hamilton, bought a car condo. The 1,200-square-foot unit started out as an empty box, and the couple turned it into a two-floor space. On the bottom floor is a garage with a polished concrete floor. The couple’s 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (bought new for about $105,000) and 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R (about $65,000) are considered two of the most high-performance cars ever built at their price-points, while their 2010 Ferrari 458 (about $235,000 in 2010) is no slouch. When time permits, the couple can be found throttling these vehicles on the high-performance test track that sits right outside their condo. Otherwise, the cars make for gleaming sculpture pieces…Continue Reading >
